Thursday Randoms

I'm very excited that my bookshelf came today for the basement.  It's much smaller than I pictured, but I still love it!  Kyla will be able to see the front of the books instead of them all being stacked up.  We will only keep certain books down there at a time (it doesn't fit many anyway) and I will swap them out often.  I need to fill it with more books, but most of them are in Kyla's room and she's sound asleep.

I brought Kyla's little rocker down so she can sit and read.  I just randomly placed things for now.  I'm sure it will all be moved around.

I am in desperate need of a colorful rug!

Obviously the basement toy/school area is still a work in progress, but I'm so pumped that we're going to Ikea this Sunday!  My mom, aunt, sister in law and I are all going and I could not be more excited!  I have my sights on a big storage/shelving thing for toys downstairs, possibly a desk or table for the school area, possibly a cute rug if I can find one, and any other random cute things I can find.  I can't wait to share my goodies with you all :)

Today for our school time we went over to our neighbor's for a play date.  Kyla is obsessed with their two cats.  She pets them, talks to them, laughs at them, pulls their ears and then when they have had enough, they run away and she chases them.  Oy, poor cats!  She just couldn't get enough.  She was a pretty good girl though.  Until she dumped the cat's water bowl all over the kitchen floor and on her pants and socks.  And then it was time to go home!

I really wanted to get out of the house (you could probably tell because of my vacation post from earlier, haha) so we took a drive to Babies R Us.  I wanted to just peek at double strollers.  They didn't have any so I guess I need to just look online.  I did end up buying a few little things.  Couldn't come home empty handed :)  Just got two books and a few new bibs.

Here are a few pictures from tonight when Daddy got home...

Going for a ride on Daddy's back

Hi blogger friends!

I want a vacation!

Who doesn't, right?  Doesn't this look amazing?

I want to be laying in that hammock right now!  I could actually read one of the many books I've been wanting to read!
I think I could convince Tyler to go on a vacation so that's not the problem.  The problem is I don't want to leave Kyla home, but I worry that taking her with us would end up being more stressful than relaxing.  She probably wouldn't sleep well, wherever we went, and she just doesn't do well with a new routine.  At all!  And I'd love to go lay on a beach for a couple of days, but I realize that's not really a vacation meant for a one year old.

So back to leaving Kyla home...I just don't want to do it.  I've only  been away from her for one night since she's been here and it was because I went to watch Emma perform in a musical and I was too tired and sick from being pregnant that I couldn't drive home late at night.  But I was home and with my baby by 10:00 the next morning.  I'll admit it, I have major separation anxiety.  So the first time I'm away from her will probably be when I'm in the hospital giving birth to her little brother or sister.

Anyway, do any of you have any good vacation ideas for us (Kyla included)?  I know a lot of you are probably thinking I'm crazy (or stupid) for not leaving Kyla so no need to share those comments :)  I know once I do it once, it won't be an issue.  And I know she'd be fine.  And I'd be fine.  And in a couple years I will probably be away from our kids several nights.  Don't worry, I've heard it all from other mom's.  I just don't want to do it yet.  But I'd love to get out of the house for a few days and do something, just the three of us.  Ok, need some ideas...thanks :)
